Lakers G Bryant suspended for second time this season

NEW YORK (Ticker) - Kobe Bryant seems to have a habit of swinging his arms into a defender that the NBA does not like.

For the second time this season, the league suspended the superstar guard of the Los Angeles Lakers Bryant for one game without pay for hitting an opponent in the face with the follow-through of his shot.

The suspension was announced Wednesday by NBA executive vice president of basketball operations Stu Jackson. Bryant will sit out Wednesday night's game at Milwaukee and lose nearly $197,000 in salary.

In the final minute of the fourth quarter of Tuesday's 117-107 double-overtime loss at Minnesota, Bryant rose for a jumper that was challenged by Timberwolves guard Marko Jaric.

In his follow-through, Bryant flailed his right arm sideways and delivered a blow to the face of Jaric, who went to the floor, holding his head. Bryant was called for a loose-ball foul.
